Kiger and Traver Named Kimmel Scholars

Assistant professors of biological sciences Amy Kiger and David Traver are two of 15 scientists nationwide who have been selected as Kimmel Scholars for 2006. The Sidney Kimmel Foundation for Cancer Research provides each of the Kimmel Scholars with a $200,000 award over a two-year period to further a specific cancer research project. Kiger's research addresses the roles and regulation of Myotubularin-dependent phosphoinositide pathways important in cellular differentiation. Travers' research is on the role of Runx1 proteins in normal and neoplastic blood cell development. Both Kiger and Traver are members of the Section of Cell and Developmental Biology.
