"Ionomics: Genomic scale profiling of nutrient and trace elements in Arabidopsis thaliana"

This Website includes ICP data from about 1190 fast neutron-mutagenized Arabidopsis plants generated in the Schroeder Laboratory as reported in the publication by Lahner, Gong et al. (Nature Biotech. (2003) 21; 1215-1221)

We describe here the use of mineral nutrient and trace element profiling as a new tool to determine the biological significance of connections between a plant genome and nutrient or toxic metal uptake. Using inductively-coupled atomic emission mass spectrometry (ICP-AES) we have quantified Ba, Ca, Cd, Fe, K, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, P, S, Rb, and Zn in shoots of fast neutron mutagenized Arabidopsis thaliana plants consisting of about 1190 M2 plants and 88 M3 families selected in the M2 generation for their modified elemental-profiles. For the Schroeder lab ICP Screen, all elemental-profile data for both the M2 and M3 plants are available in a searchable excel database format, allowing users to download the data files and to pursue additional analyses of their preference. Seeds from continued mutant M3 families will be available at the Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center ..

***** README: Directions on viewing the following data *****

All M2 files can be viewed and analyzed in two formats: the files are both organized such that for a given element (e.g. Ba2+) the data for all lines can be viewed or for a given line (e.g. FN565) the values for all elements can be viewed.
