Welcome to our home page

We study infectious diseases caused by bacteria and roundworms. Our goals are:

 1) to understand how the biggest class of bacterial toxins, pore-forming toxins, attack our cells and how our cells protect themselves against them. We aim to develop new cures against nasty bacteria like Staphyloccocus aures and Steptococcus pyogenes.
   2) to understand how resistance to crystal (Cry) proteins made by Bacillus thuringiensis occurs so that we can safely use this natural insecticide/nematicide for years to come
   3) to study how anthrax kills and how the immune system defends against it
   4) to cure nematode diseases of humans that infect nearly 2 billion people in the developing world and that are one of the leading causes of morbidity in the world, especially in chldren and pregnant women.

Thanks for dropping by and let us know what you think.
