BILD1: THE CELL
GENERAL INFORMATION

INSTRUCTOR:	Dr. Nigel Crawford
LECTURES:  Tuesday & Thursday 2:30-3:50, PETER 108
OFFICE HOURS:	Tuesdays 4-5 PM, 3216 Muir Biology

TEXTS: Biology, 4th Edition, by Neil Campbell. Books are available at 
the Price Center Bookstore and the Student Coop General Store. 
Several copies are on reserve at the Undergraduate Library.

DISCUSSION SECTIONS: Section times and locations are as published 
in the schedule of classes. Questions about the lecture, assigned 
reading and problem sets will be answered in your section.

PROBLEM SETS: Problem sets will be handed out in class and will be 
due at the end of lecture as shown in syllabus. Sets will be graded, 
with each set being worth 3% of your grade, & then returned to the 
North Lobby of the Muir Biology Building. Solutions will be available 
at soft reserves.

EXAMS: There will be one in class Midterm and one Final. The exams 
are closed book. The Final Exam will be on Wednesday, March 19, 3-
6 PM. There will be no make-ups for the Midterm; if you miss it, the 
Final will be worth 82% of your grade. No one may take the Final 
Exam early.

GRADES: The homeworks will be worth 18% (6 x 3%), the Midterm 
will be worth 32% and the Final worth 50% of the grade. The Final is 
comprehensive.
