Effective Monday, December 7, 2011, All Individuals Who Wish To Use A Biology Vehicle Must Apply For Use Authorization at https://dbsportal.ucsd.edu/protectedinfo/vehicle.
The Division of Biological Sciences supports the use of three different types of vehicles to meet your Divisional business related needs:
Van located at the loading dock on the east side of Bonner Hall. The keys are located in room 2150 in key kiosk.
Pick-up truck which is stationed in parking lot (south of the Muir Biology by the Natatorium). The keys are located in room 1125 M2B mail room in the key kiosk.
¾ ton flatbed truck located in the Bonner Hall parking lot. This vehicle is only available with a driver at a use rate of $54.00 per hour. Call x42449 for more information.
These vehicles serve the needs of many researchers and other employees and so each use is limited to a sign-out period of two hours, and are available on a first come, first serve basis. For no reason or purpose are these vehicles to be used for ANYTHING other than University business.
Although the Division maintains these vehicles and pays for the fuel, for obvious safety reasons it is the driver’s responsibility to keep the vehicle fueled and check the oil, tire pressure and running lights before at each use. Please report ANY abnormalities to Trevor Thiessen at x4-6423.
Who is eligible to use Biology Vehicles?
Paid Employees – Academic, Staff and Student
MS / PhD Students, with or without paid employment, but who have paid fees for the quarter in question (or for summer, having paid fees the previous spring quarter)
Do you need a car to run a personal errand? While the Divisional vehicles are not authorized for this type of use, you might consider the Zipcar at UCSD.
