Failure to receive proper training to operate the autoclave or the dishwasher could result in injury to co-workers or could damage equipment.

Instruction is provided by the Division Safety Assistant at 822-1358, hawolf@ucsd.edu

     All users of Biological Sciences Division common room equipment are expected to receive formal instruction by the Safety Assistant for all autoclave and dishwasher use, and for biohazardous waste management. Documented training is required for processing biohazardous waste. All documentation is subject to evaluation by the County of San Diego, Department of Health.

Please contribute to the general housekeeping of all common rooms. Clean up spilled dishwasher soap or broken glass; dispose all your trash. Place all biohazardous waste in red waste containers. Do not pour melted agar down the sink drain.

For floods, clogged sinks or equipment problems, call Facilities Management at 534-2930

When reporting Problems to FM, submit the following information: Building and Room Number, Problem, Unit Type (dishwasher, autoclave, glassware dryer) and Unit Make (MDT, AMSCO). All ice machines are repaired by the Biological Sciences Shops, x42449.
